BREAKING NEWS
Records received from Maxine Smith who works at the Ohio Genealogical Society Library tells us that there is now a book, published in 1987, titled "Seneca County Cemetery Inscriptions".   In it she found on Page 186: Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin, Ohio; "Sell Plot in Section D, older part:  Enos Sell (no readable dates); Maria Cramer , died Feb. (no readable year); Elias Sell, son of A & A, died 21 July 1865;  Catharine Ling, 1830-1865; Sadie Henney, 1846-1925; Abbie Henney, 1861- (death date not readable); Rev. Amos Sell, 1843-1924; Jennie Sell, 1847-1947."

Page 197: Row 21, Section E.: "Jacob Sell, Feb. 17, 1833  Sept. 8, 1906, Co L 164 Reg OVI; Maria F. Sell, Sept. 4, 1837  Sept. 17, 1915; William G. Sell, son of J & M, died 4 years 10 months 12 days; Abbie Mauk 1866-1942; Harry H. Sell, Sept. 1 1876  Dec. 6, 1944."

Page 227: Section I, Row 7:  "Cora E. Sell, wife of D. D. Frankfother, Nov. 30, 1867  Aug. 17 1896."

She also found a few more Seneca County Marriage Records; and some details for the ones we already had (and printed in Newsletter #123, page 9).  Notably, the 1874 record for Maria E. Sell to J. H. Cramer, says "Mrs. Maria E. Sell"  And the 1894 record for Amos Sell says "remarks: from Henry Co., Ohio 4 January 1894, Lutheran".  She says this is probably a transfer of his license to perform marriages as a Lutheran Minister.  Also on the marriage of "Abbie M. J. Sell, 17 April 1894 to Edgar L. Henney" it says "married by Rev. Amos Sell".

Maxine also found the following on the 1870 Census:
In Tiffin Ward 2, Seneca County; page 351, dwelling #18, Family #20:

"Maria Sell, age 31, RE $2000, PE $100, born Ohio, father and mother
      born foreign born
Abba Sell, age 6, born Ohio
Amos Sell, age 27, cooper, PE $100, born Ohio, citizen
Jane Sell, age 25, born Ohio, father and mother both foreign born."

And in Hopewell Twp., Seneca County; page 119, dwelling #180, family #159:

"Jacob Sell, age 35, farm laborer, born PA, citizen
Maria Sell, age 28, keeping house, born Ohio
Eliz. Sell, age 9, born Ohio, in school
Sarah Sell, age 8, born Ohio, in school
Minnie Sell, age 6, born Ohio, in school
Carrie Sell, age 2, born Ohio
Abby Sell, age 4, born Ohio
Ida Sell, age 1, born Ohio."

Adding all this up, it would appear that the eldest son of Absolom and Abigail Sell was Enos, and that he married Maria Hibner/Hepner/Hipner in 1863; and had a daughter named Abba or Abbie born 1863-64 who married Edgar L. Henney in 1894.  This Abbie Henney is buried in the same plot with Enos, and his wife Maria, who apparently remarried in 1874 to J.H. Cramer.   But Maria is still buried next to her first husband, Enos Sell, who apparently died between 1863 and 1870 (perhaps in the Civil War???); as Maria appears as head of their household in 1870.

Next we find that Rev. Amos Sell and his wife Jennie or Jane are living with Enos's widow and daughter in 1870, so most likely Amos is also a son of Absolom and Abigail Sell!   His tombstone dates of 1843-1924, and the fact that he and his wife are buried in this same Sell Plot add to this theory.

Also you will note that Jacob and Maria Sell's daughter named Abby or Abbie has dates of 1866-1942, and surname of Mauk on her tombstone.   Family records say she married Edward Raively and they had two children.   So maybe she married a second time to a Mr. Mauk.   Since she is buried in the same plot as her parents, she is most likely their daughter.

(I suppose she could be some other relative, but daughter seems most likely, especially since her tombstone dates fit with the age of 4 on the 1870 Census, and 13 in 1880.)

There are definitely two Abbie Sell's in 1870.  I think Sadie Henney, 1846 - 1925, might be Abbie Sell Henney's mother-in-law  Does anyone know anything about this family?

Did Abbie and Edgar Henney have any children?

Anyone know of any descendants living today??

And who is the "Catharine Ling, 1830-1865" , also buried in this Sell Plot?  Could she be another daughter of Absolom and Abigail Sell??

Does anyone have any Civil War records, pensions, etc. for either Jacob Sell, 1833-1905, or Enos Sell, a.1830-a.1863/70??

Was Enos Sell perhaps killed in the Civil War???

Are there any records naming his widow and child/children??
