John Sells, born 9 Dec. 1802, (son of John Sells and Elizabeth Stroup; and grandson of Ludwig Sells and Catherine Deardorff), was married 5 January 1823 by J.P. William Kilbourn of Franklin County, Ohio to Marinda Davis Hutchinson.  They had nine children, all of whom are listed with their parents on the Franklin County, Ohio 1850 Census (and in our History of the Celle Family, CD #2, Volume I, page 212).    The marriages of at least three of their sons are also recorded in Franklin County, Ohio.  Two sons and a daughter are found in Delaware County, Ohio on the 1880 Census as follows:

These records raise several more questions:

When and where did John Sells, born 1802, die??  Apparently he died sometime between 1850 and 1880?

When did his wife Marinda move to Delaware County?

The family of John and Anna Rumsey Sells (John Jr. above), includes four sons in 1880.  The Franklin County Sells Family records also list two daughters; Lena Sells married a Mr. Grace; and Marilla Sells married a Mr. Dyer.

Were Lena and Marilla born AFTER 1880?

The family of Mack Duff Sells (M.D.Sells above) and Betsey A. Friend (who were married 17 August 1857 in Franklin Co., Ohio), includes five of their six known children on this 1880 census.   Son Luke Sells, born 10 August 1859 is missing.  He would have been age 20/21 in 1880.

Was he already married?

Living and working elsewhere?   Or deceased??

Who was the husband of Matilda Sells Huggett?
Apparently he was deceased before 1880?   All three of their daughters are listed as born in Illinois.

Where in Illinois was this family living from at least 1870 to 1872?

Did Matilda's husband perhaps die in Illinois, prompting her to move back to Ohio with her three young daughters, to live with her widowed mother, near her brothers?
