First: Solomon Sell, b.24 Jan 1770, died 1845, and wife Anna Maria Orner, who lived in Germantown, Philadelphia, and Northern Liberties twp., Philadelphia Co., PA.
(Solomon > Solomon > John > Hendrick)
see Part 38, family # 8 in our Celle Family History
We know that Solomon and Anna Maria Orner Sell had at least nine children, and at least three named in his will, dated 10 July 1845, survived him: Joseph, Susan, and Elizabeth Campbell.
Were there other surviving children? Has anyone traced descendants of this family?
We are in need of the names and dates of ANY and All grandchildren, etc.
Second: Tilghman Sell ("Cell" on the 1880 Census!), born about 1831, married Eliza Arner, 1825-1888. They are living in Guthsville, Lehigh County, PA in 1880, with three children still at home:
Victor C., age 22 = b.a.1858; John B., age 20 = b.a.1860; and Rosa J., age 17 = b.a.1863.
Were there other children, who perhaps had already left home by 1880? Does anyone have information on any of their descendants? Who were Tilghman Sell's parents?
Living a few doors away from Tilghman Sell (Cell) in 1880, is the Owen Sell family (also recorded as "Cell"): Owen is listed as age 55; his wife Mary A., is age 53, and they have one son still at home, Oscar, age 17. Four of these Sell/Cell men are listed as "labors in Ore Bed": Tilghman, his son Victor; and Owen, and his son Oscar.
We know that Owen Sell, born 18 October 1821, was a son of Isaac and Leah Semmel Sell.
(Owen > Isaac > Johann George > Peter > ?? J.Nicholas)
Is Tilghman Sell, b.a.1831, perhaps a brother or cousin of this Owen Sell?
Third: Fayetta Sell married Reuben Arner, born about 1825, of Upper Macungie twp., Lehigh Co., PA. The above Owen Sell has a sister named "Fyetta" born 13 Sept. 1825. Could she be the one who married this Reuben Arner?
This Reuben Arner is probably the one living in the 4th Ward of Allentown, Lehigh Co., PA in 1880:
On this census record Reuben is listed as age 55 (=b.a.1825), a carpet weaver. His wife is listed as Sarah, age 58. They have a son named Tilghman Arner, age 20; and Reuben's father, John A. Arner, age 85, is also living with them. Is Sarah a second wife? Or was her name Sarah Fayetta Sell Arner??
Fourth: George D. Sell, 1878-1957, married Luella E. Arner, 1879-1963, of Mahoning, Carbon, and Allentown, PA. George is listed as age 1 year in his parents family on the 1880 census. They are living in Heidelberg, Lehigh Co., PA.
His parents are John H. Sell, 1853-1920, and Ellen Handwerk.
(George > John H. > Nathan > Charles > Johann George > Peter > ?? J.Nicholas)
These families are recorded in Part 34 of our Celle Family History.
